CREATING AND USING RECOVERY DISKS

When you purchase a new, factory refurbished PC after the initial setup your constantly prompted to create a set of recovery disks, the question is what are they for.

WHAT ARE RECOVERY DISKS FOR

Recovery disks are used to restore your PC to its FACTORY INSTALLED or OUT OF BOX STATE which is the original pre- installed operating system with drivers and application. This is particularly useful and helpful when you run into problems caused by viruses or unwanted applications or simply when you need your PC refreshed. Its the best way to have your system re-installed with little or no stress.

HOW DO I CREATE THE RECOVERY DISK SET

The process creation is fully automated all that is need is to have in most cases a minimum of 2 DVD's and a maximum of 6 DVD's.

Step 1

Locate your PC's Recovery manager and run

Step 2

Allow the recovery manager to check your PC and create the required images, the wizard will get back to you a report of how many disks will be required

Step 3

Once the number has been calculated, insert the disks one after the other and allow the system to create the disk set

Note: It is usually advisable to have more than the required number of disks as it occasionally happens that some errors may occur and some disks discarded or regarded unusable.

Step 4

Once the disk set has been created, store in a very safe place as they can only be created once after each full recovery procedure.

WHAT RECOVERY DISKS ARE NOT

Recovery disks are not meant to be used to source for drivers. they are used for full recovery procedures only. So any search for drives on them is an effort in fultility.

So make sure you tell your friends and family to always create their recovery disks and keep them safe.
