HOW TO UNHIDE HIDDEN FILES OR SHORCUT FILES

A very common and annoying thing viruses do on laptop and desktop computers these days is to hide a users original files and create shortcuts on any removable storage attached to the computer and this can make sharing of information very difficult and sometimes impossible as other computer users may find it difficult to share storage media with such a PC.

The way to solve the problem is quite simple

STEP 1

Install bitdefender antivirus, you can get the free version from HERE

STEP 2

Scan the removable drive and remove all threats on the drive

STEP 3

Run the COMMAND PROMPT  as an administrator

STEP 4

Check the drive letter for the storage media containing the hidden files in MY COMPUTER

STEP 5

at the prompt

C:\Wndows\System32>  type X:\ where X is the drive letter from my computer

STEP 4

Once the prompt location is changed to X:\ Run the following command

ATTRIB -R -A -S -H /S /D

STEP 5

Wait for the command to finish executing

your files should be visible and ready to use again.
