A little while back I met someone who had this issue and he was really very frustrated about the whole thing because he had quite a lot of stuff on the drive and whenever he connected the drive to other Laptops or Desktop computers the hard drive would be visible and he'd make use of it no problem but whenever it was connected to his own Laptop running Microsoft Windows 7 it would not show.

The problem is actually quite easy to fix and I'll show you in a few quick steps

STEP 1

Connect the hard drive to your computer

STEP 2

Go to the PC's COMPUTER MANAGEMENT UTILITY. if you don't know how click HERE

STEP 3

Go to the DISK MANAGEMENT UTILITY  located on the bottom left hand side of the Computer management Utility

STEP 4

Select the externally connected disk, it is the disk other than DISK 0 (DISK 0 IS THE INTERNAL HARD DISK DRIVE)

STEP 5

After selecting the disk right click the disk, select CHANGE DRIVE LETTER AND PATHS and then choose a letter of your choice and OK

When this is done check your computer, the drive should be showing with the corresponding letter you chose.

Ponsak.
