For the second post in the Microsoft Word series we'll discuss section breaks;

The ability to use section breaks of different types greatly differentiates one WORD user to another as the professionalism dispalyed in the finished work cannot be rivaled in quality of display structure.

Breaks are used to divide a single document into different sections within the same documents for the purpose of the is tutorial we'll discuss the following

Page Breaks
Section Breaks

PAGE BREAKS

Page Breaks exist in three forms Page, column and text wrapping, but we shall for the purpose of this training discuss PAGE BREAK-PAGE only

PAGE BREAK-PAGE

This is used to mark the point at which one page ends and the next page begins

EXAMPLE: used to mark the pint at which chapter one ends and chapter two begins

NOTE: IT IS ALWAYS GOOD TO TYPE THE FIRST LINE OF THE NEXT PAGE THEN PUT THE CURSOR WHERE YOU WOULD LIKE THE BREAK INSERTED AND INSERT THE BREAK THE FIRST LINE OF THE NEXT PAGE WILL BE IMMEDIATLY SENT TO THE NEXT PAGE AND WILL NEVER SHIFT FROM POSITION AS OPPOSED TO USING THE ENTER KEY TO ACHIEVE THIS.

SECTION BREAKS

Section Breaks are of four types next page, continuous, even page, odd page. For the purpose of this tutorial we will use SECTION BREAK- NEXT PAGE.

SECTION BREAK- NEXT PAGE

 Used to insert a section break and start the new section on a new page

This is used when you want to have different sections within the same document and have each section have its own set of page numbers, a really cool feature that allows you to have your document in one page and not scattered in several documents.

 HOW DO I INSERT A BREAK
Simply go to the menu ribbon select PAGE LAYOUT and select BREAKS as shown below;
