Hello Friend,

If your reading this post then, you must be having trouble getting one software or the other installed which requires Net-Framework 3.5 or lower on your machine.

Installing NETFX 3.5 and lower has its pros and cons, it allows you to install older applications but affects the overall stability of your operating system. The funny thing is Microsoft allows windows to
pop up the download box and even after a successful download, the installation does not work, just still gives the same download and install dialog box, contact your administrator it says cos were the guys who tell you to get an updated version of your software; however if you must install NETFX 3.5 and lower, follow the steps below and you'll be installing your old apps with ease.

Step 1

Get a windows 8 or 8.1 installation media (either DVD, FDD or HDD), connect to your system and wait for it to load.

Step 2

Check the drive letter of the installation media in my computer
NET-FRAMEWORK
in the image above my windows 8.1 disk is drive letter G:

Step 3

Open a command prompt as administrator; you can do this by typing CMD in search, right clicking it and select open as administrator
NET-FRAMEWORK 2

Step 4

When the command prompt is open simply type:

DISM /Online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:NetFx3 /All /LimitAccess /Source:G:\sources\sxs

where G is the drive letter of your installation media from step 2

NET-FRAMEWORK 3

Step 5

Wait for the setup to finish and your ready to start installing your old apps.

Cheers,
Ponsak.
