When for some reason you are forced to create a new user and move your user files from the old user to a new one, the task can actually be quite daunting. Well that's why I'm writing this post.

On Windows XP, your user files are located here:

C:\Documents and Settings\User

To get here, follow the following simple steps

Step 1

Open My Computer

Step 2

Open the drive C

Step 3

Open the Documents and Setting folder

Step 4

If your Operating system was insalled with your name as the user, your name should show as a floder in this location. Therefore making your files location as
C:\Documents and Settings\Paul
if the user name used was paul, and you will also see the username you just created as a folder also in this location.

Step 5

Open your old user folder and copy the contents, then click the back arrow and open the new user folder you created and paste the files, replace any files the system prompts for.

Step 6

Log off the Administrator folder and Login your new user name from the welcome screen and have all your files just were they were.

Step 7

Delete the old user from control panel after you have made sure all your files are intact.

Ponsak.
